Feeling Sluggish in the Workplace? Here's How to Stay Healthy

Many people spend their entire day at work. If you are one of these people, you know how difficult it can be to stay healthy in the workplace. You may not have time for a lunch break or even the ability to take your lunch with you on days where you need to meet with clients. The lack of exercise and sitting all day can lead to health problems such as obesity and high blood pressure that will only worsen if left untreated. #1 Practice good posture

This is particularly important in situations where you are seated for long periods of time. Slouching when sitting can put extra stress on your back and the other muscles that support it, which will cause them to become strained much more quickly. Instead, sit up straight with your shoulders squared off at all times while working. 

It may feel uncomfortable initially, but over time you will get used to it! You should also use a firm chair without armrests or one that’s been ergonomically made to support your back and shoulders while spending countless hours working.

#2 Schedule time for breaks

Take time out of your day to get away from the screen and stretch, walk around or just sit in a different spot for a few minutes. Sitting in one place all day long can be very dangerous because without realizing it, you are at risk for muscle tension which can cause bad headaches, eye strain, and other issues. Make sure that you schedule breaks during the workday when possible so that you know exactly what times they will occur instead of wandering throughout the entire day if today is going to be taking some sort of break time soon!

Make sure to take at least five-minute breaks every hour where all you do is breathe deeply while looking off into space with your eyes closed. This might feel extremely weird initially, but it will make a difference in your overall health and well-being over time.

#3 Look after your eyes

Eye strain can be caused by staring at your computer screen for too long without taking a break. Make sure to take frequent breaks during the day when you are working on your laptop or PC to avoid eye fatigue and feel soreness in the back of your eyes. This will also help prevent dry eyes, which is another common issue people develop from looking at screens all day!

If any issues do arise with how your eyes are feeling after being exposed to bright light while staring down into small objects up close all day, then make sure to schedule an appointment with your local optometrist as soon as possible. Along with eye care, you could also learn more about protecting your ears if you work in a noisy environment!

#4 Have snacks at your table

Rather than eating out or bringing fast food back to your office, bring healthy snacks with you instead so that you do not succumb to the temptation of unhealthy foods. Try having fruit and veggies around for when hunger strikes between meals!

Make sure that you drink plenty of water throughout the day because hydration will help prevent headaches and constipation, which can be caused by dehydration over time. Drinking more water during lunchtime is also a great idea because it will keep your digestive tract working properly no matter what time it is! This way, you are less likely to feel sluggish in the afternoon once all of those caffeine drinks wear off from earlier this morning.

#5 Keep your stress levels at bay

Stress is the main cause of most headaches, so make sure to do whatever it takes to keep yourself calm and collected throughout the day! Remember that you are in control over how your body reacts physically during stressful times. Try taking deep breaths or meditating for a few minutes every morning before starting work so that way this part of your health routine has already been taken care of when stress levels start rising later on down the line!
