I have been a huge Veronica Mars fan for years and even own the entire series and the movie on dvd, to which I marathon quite frequently. I distinctly remember the crowdfunding boom that eventually lead to the movie, complete with original cast. It was a record breaking crowdfunding project that met it's goal of $2 million within 11 hours and increasing to over $5 million by the time the funding had ended. The series and movie eventually spawned a few novels and a web series. Popularity of the series and it's various media spin offs just keep increasing. So it made sense that they would bring the fans what they wanted and revive the series. With Hulu taking over the reigns, we got an additional 8 episodes, original cast, and a new edge of your seat storyline.

The first season reboot, or fourth season as most of us die hards just like to call it, takes place twelve years after the series finale and five years after the film with Veronica back in Neptune and working with her father again. After the bombing of a number of spring break hot spots, Veronica is on the case with suspects ranging from a congressman to the drug cartel and everyone in between.

Returning cast members include Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls), Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars), Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Francis Capra (Eli "Weevil" Navarro), Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas), and several others. New cast members include Dawnn Lewis, Patton Oswalt, Clifton Collins Jr., and J. K. Simmons.

Hulu surprised the series' fans by releasing the entire 8 episodes one week earlier than originally scheduled, following the cast's appearance at San Diego Comic Con. At the convention, Kristen Bell told Hulu it would be great if they released it early as a birthday gift to her, to which it was then announced to the crowd and massive following that it, in fact, was released that day on it's streaming service.
