Your skincare routine will only be as good as the ingredients that feature in it. For instance, it isn’t always wise to create a routine that is built around harsh man-made ingredients. These can aggravate and irritate sensitive skin, which could have the opposite result to what you wanted to see. Not only that, though, but a lot of man-made ingredients that are used widely in skincare products aren’t always that good for the planet. For this reason, a lot of people are now turning to natural skin-care products and even looking into making their own DIY ones.

Here are some of the best ingredients that you need in your skincare routine.

Witch Hazel

Your mother or grandmother might have already told you about the wonders of witch hazel. That’s because it is a wonder ingredient that has been passed down through generations. If you use a cream that has high levels of witch hazel, then your skin will be able to balance oils better, and redness will also be reduced. Not only that, though, but you can use witch hazel oil as a toner that can quickly remove all traces of makeup. As this natural ingredient is very gentle on the skin, you don’t have to worry about it stripping the skin of any of its natural oils.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C has many different benefits. For instance, getting plenty in your diet should help your immune system fend off the common cold. But did you know that it is also a big help to your skin too? That is because it protects the skin from damage from free radicals and it also promotes the synthesizing of collagen. This handy vitamin also has properties that reduce the appearance of wrinkles and scars, so you will also find it in many anti-wrinkle and anti-scar creams as well. In addition to getting plenty of it in your diet, you should also apply it directly onto your face. There is some research that suggests creams and lotions that contain high levels of vitamin C make the skin more prone to sun damage. So, be sure to also apply a daily SPF to your skin to prevent any burning.

These little oats are brilliant cleansers because they have high levels of saponin, which is a natural skin cleanser. They also work as a very gentle exfoliator. This is good news for anyone whose skin is so sensitive that it might be easily irritated by shop-bought exfoliators. As well as all that, there are a lot of proteins and lipids in oats which will help them moisturize the skin. Simply mix regular oatmeal into a homemade facemask to reap all of these incredible benefits.
