Broo Craft Beer Shampoo

I've been told many times through the years that beer is great for your hair. The instructions are usually to just take a can into the shower with me and pour it into my hair to help condition it. Something about that was really unappealing. Like smearing mayonnaise in my hair. It might work, but I would never know it, because I wouldn't be able to get past the smell or overall grossness of it.

In the case of beer in my hair, I've had beer spilled on me at parties and in bars (which is one of the reasons why bars and clubs are not my scene), and I know that the next day, I smell like I dove head first into a keg. Let's not discuss the fear that you are going to walk into work on Monday and your boss catch a whiff of beer on you because you washed your hair with a can of Budweiser.

Then I found this company that makes shampoo and conditioner with beer in it.

First off, it's color safe, so that addresses one of my issues with pouring beer in my hair. I color treat my hair two or three times a year and I just always thought that surely the beer would dull my color. The other issue it addresses is the smell. These smell like a normal shampoo and conditioner. They actually smell good. Not at all like I just showered in a case of liquid hops and barley.

So in addition to it smelling good, Broo Craft Beer Shampoo & Conditioner is cruelty free with no terrible chemicals.

I tried the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and overall, I liked it. The smell is a little different once it's in your hair and dry, and the moisturizing shampoo does smell a little like straight beer, at least in my hair. The invigorating set has a peppermint smell to it, which reminds me of Christmas, to be honest, and the thickening has a nice citrus smell. While I think these are mostly aimed at adults, my 11 year old has been using them in her hair as well.

When it comes to moisturizing, I did notice a difference on my recently color treated hair. I used this shampoo set before doing a conditioning treatment on it so I could really gauge how well it fixed the dryness I frequently suffer from right after I dye my hair. It didn't repair the dryness completely, but my hair definitely wasn't as rough to run y fingers through. I could physically feel a difference with my fingers. Visually, however, I could still see my hair needed a lot more moisture. I've since done at least one conditioning treatment to my hair, and followed up with the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner from Broo. It's helped a lot when used frequently, and even better when I leave the conditioner sit in my hair under a cap for 5-10 minutes while before rinsing.

I discovered that the thickening shampoo isn't really for me at the current moment, as I already have pretty thick hair right now thanks to the damage and dryness.

Lastly, the invigorating shampoo was quite nice. It's like it refreshed my scalp and stimulated it, which should, I imagine, make my hair grow a bit quicker, much like a scalp massage would do.

I would say give it try! It's definitely a lot better than pouring straight beer into your hair, and believe it or not, it does help.
