#NSNation Journey: Week 3 Results

Week 3 on Nutrisystem is done and I'm starting to see why the program really works. While I should be a little discouraged because of the tiny bit of gain last week, I'm realizing that the program isn't just about losing the weight. It's also about learning lessons and helping you become more aware so you can live a healthier life.

I'm not going to lie, there are some days when I really don't want a Nutrisystem entree. It's hard watching your family eat take out on weekends while you are sitting there eating your meal from the program. This is where Nutrisystem becomes a great teacher.

The Nutrisystem NuMi app has a section where you can find a restaurant and look up all the healthy choices on their menu that you can eat while on the program.  I tried this out when I had a craving for Subway last week. My typical choice would have been loaded with all kinds of meat, herb and cheese bread, and a ton of dressing. I was able to look up the calorie content of menu items online and determine the best choice so I could still have my Subway sub, but not overload on calories. And the best part is that I could load my sub with unlimited veggies!

Since being on Nutrisystem, I've learned a lot of things. I find myself checking the calorie content on everything and realizing just how unhealthy a lot of the things I was eating really were. I'm becoming accustom to knowing portion sizes and my body is getting use to the smaller portions. As a matter of fact, some days, I can barely finish my meal as it is even with the smaller portions.

Because of the knowledge that Nutrisystem gives me, Once I'm done with the 12 week program, I will be able to cook healthier meals on my own and know which foods I can eat freely and which I should go sparingly on.

Through this, I'm finding my tastes have changed. A lot of foods that I use to have no problem eating, sugary or greasy foods, now taste terrible to me and my body certainly lets me know that I am polluting it with junk anytime I take a sip or take a bite of whatever my husband is having that I can no longer have on the program.

I've been tired of drinking plain water this week, so I started using low-cal water enhancers. Packets like Crystal Light can be added to your water to give more flavor and are low in calories as it is. The ones I have been using are 5 calories per packet, but I've only been using half of a packet just to add a little bit of flavor so that makes the calories even lower, not to mention, now I can put down more than my daily recommended water intake with no problem.

So, what were my results this week?
Surprisingly, I lost the two pounds I gained last week! Huzzah!
I suspect that last weeks gain had a lot to do with it being that week in my cycle when I tend to weigh more regardless. At any rate, I'm excited to be at 132lbs and I'm looking forward to working just as hard this week and keep on the path to my goal weight.

Week 3 weigh in: 132 lbs
