Introducing *New* Sheetz Kidz Meals With Healthy Options

This post has been sponsored by Sheetz

We are a really busy family. My husband works long hours, and my children have school functions and appointments constantly. So many times, we just don’t have time to cook dinner at home. We are either forced to eat on the go, or order something to pick up or be delivered because it’s just too late at night to cook something. With a Sheetz within walking distance from our home, more often than not, it’s our go-to for a quick bite for dinner, or even a late night snack or drink run, especially on weekends. So it’s safe to say that we are #SheetzFreaks.

Our Sheetz store down the street recently got a huge update this summer just in time for the 65th anniversary of the opening of the first store by founder Bob Sheetz in Altoona, PA. Not only is our store much bigger, with more gas pumps and even a beer cave, but the menu has been updated with their newest healthier options for the kiddos.

Sheetz Kidz Meals offer 15 different, customizable meal options for children that include lean proteins, fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy, and whole grains; limiting the amount of sodium, fats, and sugars that are often found in children’s meals at fast food restaurants. Now you have healthier options to give your children when you need to eat on the go or have no time to cook.

We often utilize the online ordering that Sheetz offers, so we can order our food and pick it up on our way to our appointment or event, making things even easier on our schedules. However, with the release of the new Kidz Meals, we wanted to order in the store so we could see for ourselves the ease of ordering for children using their touch screens.

Both of our children took turns choosing their own meal options, which was very simple for them to understand with labeled photos and divided into main, side, and beverage.

This is just a few of the options for the main part of your meal which is listed under Classic Kidz. You will see that under each option, they list the calories per meal, making this not only great for kids, but a really stellar option for adults who are looking for a smaller portioned, healthier meal to-go.

My children loved choosing their own options, which also include breakfasts like egg white schmuffins, and breakfast burritos. You can also find premium chicken wraps, turkey (with no cheese) sandwiches, and chicken quesadillas; all of which are listed under the Live Well meals. Sheetz Live Well Kiz Meals adhere to the National Restaurant Association’s LiveWell requirements, offering children fruit and vegetables, lean protein, whole grains and low-fat dairy and limit unhealthy fats, sugars, and sodium.

All meal options include a side (choose from apple slices, strawberry yogurt, or grapes), and a beverage (choose from low-fat milk, apple juice, or chocolate milk).

All this for less than $5!
