When I Carried You in My Belly

When I was pregnant with both of my children, I always loved to read to them. I have had a passion for reading and books since I was a small child and I wanted my children to come into this world with the same love. I also wanted them to hear my voice as much as possible. When they were active in the womb, my voice calmed them as I softly read to them. When they were born, I continued to read, and even now that they are both older and able to read on their own, I still read to them. My son especially loves his nightly story and lullaby even though he will be turning 5 soon. My daughter is 10 and often just prefers to read by herself most nights, but I'm thrilled when she asks me to read to her, especially at her age.
I love telling my children all the things I did for them while I carried them, not just reading, but singing and yoga, among other things.
When I Carried You in My Belly is a wonderfully written book by Thrifty Umrigar with absolutely beautiful illustrations by Ziyue Chen. The book is a sweet story of all the beautiful things a pregnant mother does while she carries her darling baby in her belly.
I can't tell you whether I liked the story more or the illustrations more, because I loved them both! They fit together so well, and is a great story for any mother to read to their little one, even while they are still in the womb. This book makes a wonderful gift and can be read and shared for years to come.
