Nostalgia Lovers Rejoice! This Crate is Full of Awesome!

I am such a nostalgia nerd; mostly 80's and 90's nostalgia. I live for it. My husband and I collect various things from those two decades and our collections are huge throwbacks to our childhood. It's exciting to run into toys, games, and books that you forgot all about through the years and it immediately takes you back to a better time when the only thing you had to stress about was what character was the best in Street Fighter.

So recently I stumbled upon this company called Nostalgia Crate. Granted, there are many different subscription box options out there for people who love the 80's and 90's, but very few of them allow you to customize the boxes nor do they have as many box options as Nostalgia Crate.

They have so many options for boxes, it's unreal. So you can really customize these to your tastes spanning from the 80's into the 00's.

They have a point system set up for certain boxes. You collect points that you can trade in towards add-ons. We subscribed to the Nostalgia Crate CORE, which didn't have the point system, but comes with a little bit of everything anyhow.

Upon picking your desired box, at checkout you fill out a questionnaire, asking you what franchises you like/don't like, what decade you liked the most, what consoles you have or are interested in, and what Beanie Babies you like. Of course, this was what was on the questionnaire for the Nostalgia Crate CORE. I can only assume that if you choose a card box, there wouldn't be a Beanie Baby option.

The first box came pretty quickly since it was sent to me by the company as a tester/review box. I did order a full subscription, however, and after this box, each subsequent box will be shipped out on the first of each month. Honestly, I'm stoked about this box from the start. The first box we received was awesome and they catered to our likes pretty well, I think. Although, my fault, I forgot to put sports as a dislike, and realized afterwards that I would more than likely end up with sports games and wrestling figures. I also realized I could have added that I am a huge horror lover, especially 80's horror and Nightmare on Elm Street. That being said, it's an easy fix. The company is pretty good about making sure you get a box that's perfect for you, so you can very easily email them to add likes/dislikes to your list. As I have come to find out, the more you add to your list, the better your chances are of getting the most awesome box they can possible curate. For example, I remember writing Thundercats, Transformers, Barbie, Garfield, 90's Nicktoons, and Disney to name a few. I tried to narrow some down, but at the same time, like for Disney and the Nicktoons, those are pretty broad because I like everything in those franchises.

This is what came in our first box.

I'm impressed. It catered to my entire family's likes. I mean the racing game wasn't our cup of tea, but like I said above, that was my fault for not thinking to add that we don't care for sports. Everything else was awesome! I did mention that I was interested in Halloween or Christmas Beanie Babies, because, once again, this opens it up for a broad spectrum of items. I did specify one or two particular ones I would like, but I'm not really a collector and really only use them to decorate with for holidays or in our library. They ended up sending me Tricky, which is a cute green bear in a pumpkin costume. My daughter loved it. My on was over the moon for the Ghostbusters figure because that's his favorite franchise in the world right now. The Wishbone book opened my kids up to a new thing. I explained what Wishbone was and found some episodes online for them to watch. They are now hooked.

I don't think I've seen my family so excited for a subscription box before. We love our boxes that we get each month, but I really think this one is our favorite novelty box.
