Doodletopia: Cartoons

This is such a fun how-to book for both kids and adults!
The book itself guides you through drawing techniques for cartoon characters by artist Christopher Hart. Not only is it a guide, but you can draw directly in the book as well! This is a fun feature, because you can go back and see how far you've come and honed your skills.

The book starts out with features of more simple cartoon characters and then gradually guides you into more advanced, like anime, characters.

My absolute favorite part of the book is the word illustrations. I use to doodle similar types of things in my notebooks and sketchbooks when I was in school. Really, the section focuses on lettering, but it's great to know how to form your letters based on the story and atmosphere that you are going for, but word illustrations helps you visualize the different ways to bring your lettering to life for titles and such.

As you progress, you'll find at the back of the book, there are complete the scene type pages, where the artist has given you part of the drawing and it's up to you to finish it. Very fun!

I haven't put much effort into any art in the last few years because I'm always so busy, but I love stuff like this and i'm always looking to sharpen my artistic skills.
