Thirty Scary Tales (ebook) Review

Thirty Scary Tales is another book by Author Rayne Hall and I have to say that I enjoyed this one a lot more than the other one I reviewed. It could just be because I am obsessed with Horror ( I even have my own Horror Blog as well!) but it was an easier read.

The stories in this book are a lot like most short horror stories. It really depends on the individual fears of the particular person reading the book. For example, someone who doesn't have a fear of closed in spaces isn't going to be too awfully frightened by a story that's main "scare" is claustrophobic centered. Someone who loves dogs is obviously not going to be scared of a story about canines, but a person who is terrified of them will be.

The great thing about anthologies is that if the story doesn't particularly speak to you in some way, you can skip ahead to the next without the risk of missing out on a larger part of a story line. Nothing seems to be quite "scary enough" for me, honestly. I think I just keep comparing any horror anthologies to the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark series that I read as a child. Those still creep me out. However, this is a good collection. It puts me in the mind of Joe Hill's 20th Century Ghosts if you want sort of comparison. There are plenty of original stories that might not particularly scare you or creep you out, but are still an interesting read.

You can pick up the ebook on Amazon for $0.99!
